Detailed Itinerary
  • Day 01 : USA - Shanghai
    Our flight departs the U.S. and heads for Shanghai. We spend the night on the plane as we cross the Pacific Ocean.

  • Day 02 : Arrive Shanghai
    Evening arrival in Shanghai. We are awed by the dramatic landscape and the international influences that define China's most populous city. We relax in our five-star luxury hotel.

  • Day 03 : Shanghai (AB, L, DS)
    Our first day of sightseeing in China takes us all around Shanghai, by far China's most advanced, cosmopolitan city. We visit Yu Garden, a Ming Dynasty-era garden, bustling Nanjing Road, and the famed waterfront Bund, once known as the Wall Street of Asia. Exciting evening entertainment is provided by a thrilling Chinese Acrobatics Show.

  • Day 04 : Shanghai - Suzhou (AB, L, DH)
    Depart by motorcoach to the Garden City of Suzhou. A city interlaced with canals,Suzhou has been dubbed the "Venice of the East". We visit the Humble Administrator's Garden and the Grand Canal.

  • Day 05 : Suzhou - Yangtze River Cruise (AB, L, D)
    Our motorcoach takes us to either the Zhengjiang dock where we board our deluxe Victoria Cruises ship for a magnificent sailing experience down the mighty Yangtze River.

  • Day 06 : Yangtze River Cruise - Nanjing (B, L, D)
    Our Victoria Cruises ship arrives at Nanjing where we take our first shore excursion to this wartime capital city of China. A city tour includes Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleu and a Qing Dynasty style bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple. We reboard later in the evening.

  • Day 07 : Yangtze River Cruise - Mt. Huangshan (B, L, D)
    Today's shore excursion brings us to the fabled Mt. Huangshan, "Yellow Mountain". Mt. Huangshan is famous for its magnificent "four beauties": unique rock formations, odd-shaped pines, seas of clouds, and hot springs.

  • Day 08 : Yangtze River Cruise - Wuhan (B, L, D)
    We arrive in Wuhan. A city tour of this major industrial and commercial center of central China is today's highlight. After our Wuhan tour, we reboard the ship and continue up the Yangtz.

  • Day 09 : Yangtze River Cruise (B, L, D)
    Today is spent sailing on the Yangtze, China's longest river. View the breathtaking landscape, mystical clouds and high peaks that distinguish this region like no other.

  • Day 10 : Yangtze River Cruise - Three Gorges Dam (B, L, D)
    We spend the morning viewing the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, which is being built for flood control and power generation. We reboard and sail through the treasured Three Gorges. We pass through the idyllic Xiling Gorge and craggy steep cliffs of Wu Gorge. We edge into Wushan and remain on board the ship for the evening.

  • Day 11 : Yangtze River Cruise - Daning River or Shennong Stream (B, L, D)
    Depending on river conditions, our shore excursion is either along the Daning River or Shennong Stream. We board smaller vessels to access this tributary of the Yangtze. Return to the ship in the afternoon and enjoy as the vessel passes through the narrow meandering passages of the Qutang Gorge.

  • Day 12 : Yangtze River Cruise - Fengdu or Wanxian (B, L, D)
    We arrive at the ghost-city of Fengdu for the final shore excursion of our Yangtze cruise. Accessing the mountain top by cable car, we enter to view the legions of statue-demons and recreation of "Hades" as it existed in the minds of the ancients.

  • Day 13 : Yangtze River Cruise - Chongqing - Xian (B, L, DH)
    The Yangtze River cruise comes to an end with our arrival in Chongqing. Here we visit the city's Panda Zoo and savor a lunch of local spicy Sichuan cuisine. In the afternoon, we depart for Xian by air. Upon landing, we are brought to our hotel for check-in and some relaxation.

  • Day 14 : Xian (AB, L, DS)
    Xian, the historic starting point of the famed Silk Road and cradle of ancient Chinese civilization, has served as the capital of 11 dynasties. The 1974 discovery of the life-sized Terra Cotta Army guarding the tomb of China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, made Xian a tourist magnet. Afterwards, we travel back into town to visit the indestructible-looking City Wall. Tonight, after an delicious Imperial Dumpling Banquet, we delight in a stage opera of the Tang Dynasty.

  • Day 15 : Xian - Beij (AB, L, DH)
    Our final scenic point of interest in Xian is the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. We then continue on to the airport and board a short flight to Beijing, China's capital city. Upon arrival, we tour the solemn and glorious Temple of Heaven, the sacred site where emperors came to pray to the heavens for a bountiful harvest. Tonight, dinner is served at our hotel.

  • Day 16 : Beijing (AB, L, D)
    China's political center is home to over 13 million people. Our full-day tour takes us to Tiananmen Square (Gate of Heavenly Peace) and the Summer Palace, a place of rest and recreation for the emperor and his royal family. We also visit the Forbidden City, so named because commoners were not allowed inside its gates.

  • Day 17 : (AB, L, DP)
    Built to protect its people from northern marauders, the Great Wall snakes its way thousands of miles across Northern China and is visible even from the moon. This morning, we spend time walking atop this man-made wonder of the world and then descend for a visit to the Ming Tomb Museum. We close our day with a traditionally prepared Peking Duck feast.

  • Day 18 : Beijing - USA (AB)
    The morning is free at leisure until we board our international homebound flight and bid a fond farewell to China.
