Detailed Itinerary
- Day 01 : USA - Beijing
We start our vacation by boarding an international flight bound for Beijing, the capital of modern-day China. Cross the International Date Line and spend the night aboard the plane.
- Day 02 : Arrive Beijing
Arrive in Beijing. After clearing customs and retrieving our baggage, we are met by our guide and transferred to our five-star hotel accommodations.
- Day 03 : Beijing (AB, L, DP)
A full-day tour of Beijing, the capital of China, is on today's agenda. First, we visit Tiananmen Square. Built in 1651, it is the world's largest public square. The next stop is the ancient Forbidden City, home to the emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. We then proceed to the Summer Palace and Kunming Lake to stroll amongst the beautiful and regal pavilions. If time permits, we will visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors prayed to the gods for a bountiful harvest. We end the day with a savory Peking Duck Feast.
- Day 04 : Beijing (AB, L, DH)
Today's highlight is the Great Wall. Built as a defense against marauders, the Great Wall spans thousands of miles across China's Northern region. We walk atop a section of the Wall and appreciate its imposing wonder. Our afternoon destination is the Ming Tomb Museum. This evening we are in for a special treat -- the amazing and spectacular feats of a Chinese Acrobatics Show.
- Day 05 : Beijing (AB)
Two full days of sightseeing has left us in need of some free time. Enjoy a full day of leisure. Explore this historic capital city at your own pace or perhaps take an optional tour to the Hutongs of Beijing.
- Day 06 : Beijing - Xian (AB, L, DH)
After breakfast, we leave for the airport and fly to Xian, the ancient capital city that served as the launching point of the celebrated Silk Road. Upon landing in Xian, we enjoy a brief city tour of the massive City Wall and then head to our hotel to relax.
- Day 07 : Xian (AB, L, DS)
Today we witness an incredible archeological discovery -- the army of 6,000 Terra-Cotta Soldiers that guard the tomb of the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Afterwards, we visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Tonight, we are served a delicious Imperial Dumpling Banquet, followed by an entertaining stage opera of the Tang Dynasty.
- Day 08 : Xian - Guilin (AB, L, DH)
In the morning, we fly to Guilin. Karst limestone formations imbue Guilin's landscape with a mystical quality. We explore the Reed Flute Cave where fantastic stalactite and stalagmite formations impress us as magical and otherworldly. Elephant Trunk Hill is also visited.
- Day 09 : Guilin (AB, L, DS)
A meandering river cruise down the Li River is a delightful way to appreciate the serene, fairy-tale landscape of Southern China. We may even catch the fascinating sights of fisherman with cormorant birds! Enjoy lunch aboard the cruise. Tonight, we are treated to a colorful dinner show of China¡¦s Minority Folklore Dance.
